The dutch nationalist politician Geert Wilders held on 19th March 2014 a speech in which he pointed out that if he will win the elections, he will make sure that there will be less Moroccans in The Netherlands.
According to Mr. Wilders and his followers, the multicultural society should be eradicated and Moroccans in particular are the source of all evil.
His speech and the reaction of his followers to it, reminded me actually to a completely different politician. A different politician, in a different country, in different times. Though this politician was talking a lot as well about reducing certain minorities which were according to him the source of all evil. And, in the end bringing this belief into practice as well.
To remind me again who this politician was, I watched the movie masterpiece ‘The Great Dictator’ of Charlie Chaplin. As I found the resemblance so striking, I decided to do a small experiment and combined the soundtrack of a speech in the movie with the speech of Mr. Wilders.
And, utmost surprisingly, the audio track just fitted!
