Tihange sur Babylone

‘And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

And so mankind of all nations drunk the wine of the fornication of the earth, the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the merchants became rich through the abundance of her luxury.

But mankind could not manage the spirits it had called upon, and the earth became a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!

Therefore her plagues came in one day — death and mourning and famine. And she burned utterly with fire.

When the kings of the earth saw the smoke of her burning, standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, “Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! Your judgement has come.”‘
